Tom White is Director of The Best Backyard, an Australian independent outdoor living retailer specialising in outdoor furniture, kids outdoor play equipment, and backyard lifestyle products.
Tom is passionate about helping families spend more time outdoors together by making backyards more enjoyable, practical, and inviting spaces for play, entertaining, and everyday family life. He believes backyards should be places where memories are created, not just maintained, and is a strong advocate for helping children spend less time on screens and more time playing outside.
As Director of The Best Backyard, Tom leads a small, committed team and focuses on guiding the companyās growth, strategy, and long-term direction. Over the past two years, he has helped to guide to the business during a phase of profitable growth, working closely with his team across key areas including supplier partnerships, customer experience, logistics, retail strategy, and digital marketing.
Tom has also led initiatives to improve sustainability across the business and is guiding The Best Backyard as it transitions towards becoming a more social-benefit-focused company. This includes introducing a donation-with-every-sale program, which raised more than $7,000 in 2025 for local and international organisations doing life-changing work.
Tom has over 15 years of hands-on experience operating Australian e-commerce businesses. His work centres on building sustainable online retail operations, improving customer trust when buying online, and developing strong supplier relationships.
