I purchased this awning as well as the 3.1m awning to put on the windows on the west-side of our 1950's house. Very impressed with the look, quality and usefulness of these awnings for the price.
They do require some skills/tools to put up. I'm no builder but I had the appropriate drill and bits to drill into the brickwork, and I've done enough DIY work in the past that I didn't find it too challenging. Getting the horizontal positioning right for the two spring-loaded arms took a bit of logic & measuring .. the instructions weren't super helpful there.
The winder/handle is easy to attach/detach and use. The spring is not in the roller (like it often is in a holland blind) but instead is in the two levers/arms. The arms pull the awning fabric down, and the winder pulls it back up (retracts it).
The awnings have a good range of motion/adjustment. From fully retracted (where just the decorative part of the fabric hangs from the top), down to fully covering the window (where the bottom bar of the awning sits just a few inches out from the wall.
I’ve had the awnings up for a few weeks now and they’ve provided good shade on hot days. Keeping the sun off the window glass should be a major boost in keeping the house cool once we get into summer. We get some fairly strong winds where we are, so I’ve retracted the blinds during storms, but they have been open / out (not retracted) during some reasonably strong gusts without a problem so far.
Delivery was quick too .. showed up on my front porch less than a week after ordering. I was expecting the packaging/boxes to be the same length as the width of the awning, but they were half that (the awning roller comes in two pieces and the awning material is folded in half), so the boxes were easy to lift and handle.
